Papua New Guinea Discovery- 10 nights in April 2014

This cruise from Brisbane is a unique opportunity to see a country that flies under the tourist radar- Papua New Guinea. This port-packed cruise from Brisbane visits Townsville and a variety of ports in the beautiful southeast asian country.

The trip from Brisbane to Papua New Guinea takes 2 sea days, and the first port of call is Kitava in the Trobriand Islands. Watersports are a favourite here, and visitors can experience the local culture and distinctive Trobriand architecture.  The next stop is in the same group of islands, at Kiriwina Island which is the largest and most populous.

Alotau is the first mainland stop, and the capital of the Milne Bay province. It is rich in history from WWII, and is where Japan lost their first land battle. Nearby is the fourth port stop, Milne Bay and the Kawanasausau Strait which offer great scuba diving opportunities and some remote island communities. Before returning to Australian waters, the ship stops at the white-sand resort of Doini Island, with stunning beaches and teeming tropical fish.

See a different side of cruising with this Princess Northern Australia Explorer. See some true blue parts of northern Australia (remember, it's in the tropics!), and stop in Indonesia for some beautiful beaches. Starting in Sydney, the first stop is in the incredible Whitsundays, known for white beaches, islands, sailing and the Great Barrier Reef. This is a truly amazing part of Australia! Next up is Cairns, a sweltering city where you can escape the autumn cold. Have a walk around the wide, tree-lined promenades and enjoy the city before moving on to Darwin. Here you can peruse the museums and botanical gardens- just watch for jumping crocs in the Adelaide River! After Darwin, there is some scenic cruising along the rugged and beautiful Kimberley Coast, and then a port stop in Broome. The arid landscape meets the indian Ocean here with some great beaches. Once a centre of 'pearling' rather than goldseeking, Broome is now a vibrant and interesting city. The cruise then leaves Australia for Indonesia, stopping in Lombok, part of the lesser Sunda Islands. Lombok can be compared to neighbouring Bali, but with fewer people and cheaper prices- perfect! After a few more sea days stop in at Geraldton. Rock Lobster is a major industry here, so be sure to try some of it! The cruise finishes in Perth, capital of Western Australia.
